REACHING FORTH

Scripture Reading - Philippians 3:13

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, KJV

The Apostle Paul had many good deeds and works in which he could reflect upon while he was on the earth. However, Paul the humble servant of God encourages us to forget about past achievement in order to fully stretch forth our hands (and heart) to seek for what God would have us to do in the near future. This sounds easy but how many times do we daydream of the past major accomplishment in our life. For some it is a college degree as Paul the Theologian had before he was converted to Christianity. For others it is a highly esteemed career like the Apostle Luke had being a medical doctor and yet for others it is belonging to a highly influential family like Jesus coming from the lineage of King David. However, in the Holy Bible the Lord never refers to these New Testament saints by their past accomplishments. The Lord refers to His Children as beloved friends and born-again family. This scripture reminds us to forget about the things that are highly esteemed in the world, but lightly esteemed by God. All good deeds that we have preformed are in the past, so we should never develop a bad habit of looking backward at good works when we should be looking forward to more manifestations of God’s Glory. Having a Godly purpose each and every day will determine the future direction of our ministry today. The focal point of God’s Word will keep us reaching forth to obtain the satisfaction that is reserved for all Christians who are faithful to do God’s Will for their life. The Divine Will of the Father God started with the personal ministry of Jesus Christ. His earthly ministry of yesterday should be our same earthly ministry of today. To be effective in whatever we are doing our vision must be clear about our desired results. If we already had everything God intended for us in our hands we would not have to reach forth. However, it is obvious that God’s Will for each person will take their exact lifetime to achieve, so reach for it. Therefore set God’s spiritual goals before you and let those goals govern each day of the year. We can travel very far with God when we walk by faith with Him (step-by-step) on a daily devotion to love others as He Loves Us. Amen!
